The song I chose this week to analyze was the song "I Got Rhythm" by George/Ira Gershwin. The reason I chose this song was because I've heard this song before and wanted to take this opportunity to really dissect and analyze this song. The first thing I thought straight out the gate was how upbeat the song's instrumentals were, they really make you want to get up and dance. Throughout the entire song, it is consistently upbeat until towards the end of the song when it switches up the upbeatness of the instrumentals and creates a sound and feel that isn't so happy-go-lucky it actually made the audience feel negative emotions. He did this for a split second and then went back to the original instrumental sound for a few seconds and then ended it with something totally different. I think the purpose behind that was he wanted to make the ending of the song more climatic and really wanted to end the song in a way in which the audience would remember and make it stand out to them. I must say this song was done really well and I really enjoyed taking the time to really not just listen to it but really dive in deeper and analyze the song as a whole.
I love this song. I have also heard it in many movies or soundtracks though out my life. I love that a song can live on like that. It is a very much get up and dance song and I love that its name fits it so well. I agree the ending is great, instead of just fading out. It makes you want to listen to it agian.
ReplyDeleteI also liked this song and it is cool to hear how you analyzed it and thought through it a lot more than its face value. I think that that is an interesting idea for the ending and it does end it in a way that you would remember. This song is a great song and has remained timeless it's a song that I think most people even today have heard at least once.
