Unit 4 Blog

The song I chose this week to analyze was the song   "I Got Rhythm" by George/Ira Gershwin. The reason I chose this song was because I've heard this song before and wanted to take this opportunity to really dissect and analyze this song. The first thing I thought straight out the gate was how upbeat the song's instrumentals were, they really make you want to get up and dance. Throughout the entire song, it is consistently upbeat until towards the end of the song when it switches up the upbeatness of the instrumentals and creates a sound and feel that isn't so happy-go-lucky it actually made the audience feel negative emotions. He did this for a split second and then went back to the original instrumental sound for a few seconds and then ended it with something totally different. I think the purpose behind that was he wanted to make the ending of the song more climatic and really wanted to end the song in a way in which the audience would reme...

Week 3 Blog post

The song that I chose this week was ''Aint Misbehavin'' by Louis Armstrong. I chose this song in all honesty because I recognized his name as the singer from the song ''What a Wonderful World'' and I wanted to listen to another song by him. This song was quite different than ''What a Wonderful world'' but I still really enjoyed listening to it. What I thought was interesting was how the song starts with the first minute being the beat of the song and ends with the last minute being just the beat again. There was only about a minute or so of Louis actually singing. I am glad I had the opportunity to listen to another Louis Armstrong song because he is such a great singer and such a one of a kind voice. Another thing that I noticed was the the flow of the song, it just has that old school feel to it that makes it really fun to listen to. So, my conclusion is that Louis Armstrong did a great job with this one and even though it wasn'...

Week 2 post

My song of choice for this week to analyze was coo- coo by Dink Roberts. I honestly was drawn to this song based solely on the title. I thought the title of the song looked interesting and I thought I'd want to give it a try by analyzing it for the week. What I found after analyzing this song was how relatively short the song was. Most songs that I have grown up listening to are usually a lot longer than this song. This song was at most a paragraph in length. I loved how unique the singer's voice was I truly have never heard anything like it before. I noticed how this song didn't have a hook of any kind, which was common for songs back in the time when this song was created. I liked how the song kept you guessing, it would start to lead you with a specific melody and switch it up at a time you wouldn't expect. Overall, my favorite part of this song was its uniqueness of it and how different it sounds from anything we have today. Also, another great part of the son...
