This week I decided to analyze the song "Dreaming with Tears in My Eyes" by Jimmy Rodgers. The reason this song caught my eye in the first place was because I have heard of Jimmy Rodgers before from my grandparents. I must say I had never had the opportunity to actually listen to his music, so I decided to give it a shot. The beginning of this song really hooks you in with Jimmy's great voice. The tone of the song has a negative feeling to it in the sense that the song was intended to bring out a negative emotion, which in this case was heart break. In a few parts of this song I thought it was very creative of him to throw in a few yodels, it really makes this song memorable and helps it stick out to the audience. Throughout the entirety of the song Jimmy really captivates you with his great voice and that consequently helps the listener really feel heartbreak in the song. I must say this is probably my favorite song I've analyzed so far in this class. I just really liked jimmy's voice and the way in which he kept me as a listener invested throughout the entirety of the song. Overall it's a great song that is worth the listen.

  1. Great song choice. I too had heard of Jimmy Rodgers but never heard any of his songs. Jimmy's voice is what makes this song stand out, and his yodels are indeed very creative. I appreciate that the song is slower, and the piano and other instruments aren't overbearing but are still notable. I will definitely listen to this song again.

  2. Great song choice. I totally agree with your comment on the added yodeling in the song, not only does it add color to the song but in my mind it also kind of mimics how someone's voice cracks when they're really sad or upset. This song is so heartbreakingly beautiful, great choice, and great post.

  3. I find it really cool that this was your favorite song so far because that shows to me that music is getting better in a sense. Or maybe it is getting closer and closer to modern music. I also really love that you had a connection to the song through your grandparents. I love connecting to people through music
